Social Interaction and Social Learning

A mouse is set in an environment, and after an adaptation period it becomes the host of a visitor. During a period of ten minutes both mice interact differetly with each other. We track both mice activity and modelled them to be able to measure distances between body parts. Interactions an later define by setting thresholds on distances and speed between bodyparts: this is called an ethogram.

Ellipsoidal model of two mice interacting in the square arena. Tracking of the animal was done using DeepLabCut and then a model of the animal shape was built on top of it. Here we removed the background for better understanding of interactions.

Parameters extracted from behaviour to classify different interactions between mice.
