I am a biologist post-doc researcher interested in understanding how molecular and neuroanatomical substrates empower the encoding of cognitive behavior, learning and memory, and how they are disrupted in brain disorders and in neurological diseases. During my PhD under supervision of Dr. Khan at the University of Malaga, I studied the preventive effect of RGS14414 protein on memory loss and shed light on the mechanism underlying this RGS14-mediated memory enhancement. Nowadays, I have the opportunity of working in the laboratory of Dr. Genzel and Dr. Battaglia in order to learn electrophysiological recording in freely-moving animals. Combining molecular, histological and electrophysiological techniques, I am involved in two main projects in the lab based on modifying neural plasticity of prefrontal cortex by both extracellular matrix disruption and RGS14414 protein infusions, with the goal of accelerating memory consolidation process and studying the relationship between the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex during spatial memory processing.
